PARADICE PALASE is pleased to welcome COLLECTIVE_VIEW for their presentation of Private View IRL. This three-day pop-up show invites the public to experience the intimacy and small scale works that were exchanged between the homes of the collective’s members during the COVID summer and fall of 2020.
The original show featured works by: Aimée Burg, Noa Charuvi, Sarah Crown, Tamar Ettun, Julia Goldman, KB Jones, Dana Levy, and Gabriela Salazar, and was co-curated by: Sarah Crown, Naomi Lev, and Rebecca Pristoop. The current show includes works by three additional CV members: Sari Carel, Kate Harding, and Gabrielle Mertz.
From August 3 - November 6, 2020, the exhibition Private View travelled between the homes of seven artists and three curators. Conceived during the forced lockdown, the exhibition offered the collective a means of physical connection during a time of social distancing. Private View began in the home of one artist with one artwork and expanded cumulatively as each artist received the exhibition in their home and added one work. It culminated in the home of one curator with eight artworks and one sound piece.
Living with the artworks, and shepherding the works from home to home (whether through hand-delivery, messenger, or mail), fostered an intimacy and connectedness between the participants.
The exhibition was made accessible to the public through Instagram. It was posted, reposted and shared via @_collectiveview_ and among the Instagram accounts of its participating artists and curators -- giving the public a glimpse into the private lives of each collective member.
The presentation of Private View IRL at PARADICE PALASE offers the public an opportunity to experience these intimate works in person. Including the work of three additional collective members, builds upon the cumulative nature of the show: growing the composition, enhancing the collaboration, and expanding the breadth of connections at each new location.
